Guys I never thought I would see the day but I got the shock of my life…Deadly Premonition 2 is happening and SOON! I can’t stop smiling!
During today’s Nintendo Direct we not only learned that Deadly Premonition is now available on switch as Deadly Premonition: Origins but that a sequel, Deadly Premonition 2: A Blessing in Disguise is also in the works.
Deadly Premonition: Origins is currently on sale on Nintendo’s e-shop for $29.99 and appears to be a new port of the Director’s Cut. Fingers crossed it’s actually stable guys… I’m currently downloading the game onto my Switch now and will let you all know how it handles 🙂 A physical release of the game will come later this November from Aksys Games. No word yet on the price but that new cover art looks pretty awesome!
[Update 4/5]
I hate to say this but the Switch Port has some issues…hold off purchasing a digital copy until the patch is available!
I’m super disappointed so far just playing through Chapter 00-01 since the game audio comes and goes randomly. The entire cutscene with Emily and George was silent for me, then later when York left the hotel there was no music or voice acting just movement sounds. I restarted the game which fixed the missing cutscene sound but when I got into the car and the sirens wouldn’t make a noise.
There’s also weird shadow problems too…York looked demonic in the introduction cut scene I couldn’t hear with Emily and George…and the patrol car is way too dark compared to the environment.
Another annoying issue is with the controls… even if you remap buttons it’s not reflected through out the game. I switched the A and B buttons and I noticed that when I talked to Polly it switched back to the default when the buy menu came up. 🙁
Deadly Premonition 2: A Blessing in Disguise shares a similar cell-shaded look of D4. What’s really awesome is that it looks like it’s a team effort between Rising Star Games, White Owls, and Toybox Inc! The old crew is back together 😀 I’m very excited that Swery is co-writing again with Kenji Goda!
The game is going to be set in 2005 during one of York’s old cases in Le Carré, a small town in New Orleans but will also be set in the future as well with a new FBI Agent, Aaliyah Davis. I wonder if this case has anything to do with the one mentioned at the end of the Director’s Cut.?
Sorry I’m so late with posting this news (I was in the middle of work when the news dropped, big thanks to everyone for letting me know BTW!) BUT I’m here now to go over this trailer with a fine tooth comb!
In the beginning of the we see Special Agent Aaliyah Davis is conducting an interview with with an unnamed old man and her partner(?) operating a video camera
We do get a nice shot of the place, it’s looks familiar…isn’t it David Young’s apartment from D4? Are we getting a crossover?! I hope so, I’m really bummed D4 didn’t get completed.
Next we see York (?) it looks like his suit jacket getting grabbed by a Doctor by the name of Tyrone Sanders. He appears to a priest as well, if that clerical collar is anything to go by. Maybe he works at a Christian run hospital?
Then we see the man himself (looking fine I might add!) just before he nearly turns into a dynamite blonde standing right behind him. I wonder who the kid is?
Apparently we will get to ride an airboat on the Bayou! Looks like fun! I hope we get to race to “American Idiot”
We get a nice shot of the man Aaliyah is interviewing…an that scar. IS THAT OLD MAN ZACH?! Or is it supposed to be David Young Henning? The placement of the scar and the face looks JUST like Zach’s. Is this where he turned up after disappearing at the end of Deadly Premonition the Director’s Cut? He seems a bit younger too… (4/5 all the DC content was removed from DPO so no old man Zach…it’s just Zach a few years after the Greenvale investigation)
We see York again, he appears to be profiling something and he sees a person with Sugar Skull makeup…
And then appears to be in some sort of combat situation…hard to tell what he’s dealing with, seems to be a masked person with a gravestone chained to their back, and they don’t look friendly! What I find super interesting is the purple gas and the red vines in the room. Could the case have something to do with the reds seeds and Red Tree? I hope so, I want to know more about that evil thing!
And that was the end of the Deadly Premonition 2 trailer in the Nintendo Direct presentation BUT there’s another teaser on the website!
It opens with a shot of a 1943 Le Carré newspaper asking “Who Killed Lisa Clarkson?” My guess? Kaysen…
Then we hear York waking up Zach to head back out into the chaos!
And then boom title…coming to Nintendo Switch only..aw man I hope it also comes to PC down the road!
Woo and that’s it so far. I am over the moon you guys, what about you?
4/6 Nintendo Direct Japanese Trailer!
The trailer for the Japanese Nintendo Direct shows some different scenes that I just had to go through with you 😀
We see more shots of Zach who looks like he’s not doing to well after the Greenvale investigation given the state of his apartment and the fact he picked up smoking. Also…guys…he is totally wearing Emily’s necklace on his wrist 🙁
We also got a cool new look at 2005 York AND THAT HE CAN SKATEBOARD AROUND TOWN.
And we get glimpses of two new characters! They don’t look friendly…
It appears the little girl will be following York around as well, as she’s often seen trailing York in the opening world shots.
And that’s it…but seeing Zach like that man…hits me hard.
I am so excited for this!!! I never in a million years thought this would happen!
I’ve been waiting for the longest time for this. I still can’t believe it is actually happening 😀
I got so excited when my friends sent me the Nintendo Direct video I went lightheaded. For the past couple of days I think about it every once in a while and just beam.
I hope York’s VA returns!
A patch was released on September 10th to fix the audio issues on the Switch.
Also, this is my 1st time playing Deadly Premonition. Thank you so much for all that you have done by creating this website.
