Deadly Premonition is a game that catches you from the first moment. It passes from being so dark to funny in few seconds, giving a crazy atmosphere. Not only you can play the story, but also you can drive along all Greenvale to discover details and of course… to have fun! And those little acts you can do like shaving York gives the game a individual value.
About the story… OMG what can I say? I laugh but also I cried and I stayed sad for a time. I couldn’t stop thinking about the game 🙁 -and I really want the second part-.
But I will come back to happy things!
The characters are so special, I like the design and their personalities.
I love the enemies. They are mysterious, creepy but interesting. I love Shadow design by the way -It was my Halloween costume!-
The music is also so weird… I love it!
To sum up: Mysterious, enigmatic, creepy… With all this things, how it would not catch me?

      The compelling characters especially york.

The reason i love deadly premonition was because it was unique and wasn’t afraid to be weird, it engaged me with its plot and funny characters and drew me in through a loop and it became much more then just your average game and thats what i love about it. What do you think Zach?

    Hello
I started playing video games really late because of the way I was raised, the adult life duties and so on. But I was always a great video game watcher (haha) and Deadly Premonition sort of marks this turning point since is one of the last games I just watched. I still am a terribly lame gamer, but now I also play.
Is a game that makes me feel like living among the characters, makes me laugh, recalls me Twins Peaks and brings nice memories from good things that were happening in my life by the time I first met DP.

    Well…what can i say?
I always love games like DP…Silent Hill, Resident Evil, Parasite eve, Obscure…
Interesting stories, great main characters, scary monsters.
I guess its just a cult game, so its hard to do not like it.

I actually bought this game on impulse. I wasn’t sure about it and never read a review about it before getting it. And I was so happy that I did. It’s an amazing game with an outstanding mystery. I was born in ’87 and grew playing games on the earlier systems. So the graphics didn’t bother me. The only downside for me was the control scheme. But all in all, great game!

Why do I love Deadly Premonition? Because. Because of Tom and Jerry’s co-dependent relationship. Because Attack of the Killer Tomatoes. Because of the truth about Francis and Zach. Because the map is so hard to read and the police radio is such an unexpected gift. Because Life is Beautiful, especially during the scene in the morgue. Because the Raincoat Killer. Because, yes, “FK in the Coffee.” Because law enforcement shouldn’t be driving way over the speed limit anyway. Because you can look at the map and see what everyone in town is up to. I love Deadly Premonition because it sneaks up on you, it’s a sucker punch in the most amazing way. For all the talk of it’s poor graphical quality and nonsensical storytelling, it makes you feel part of a smal town truly inhabited rather than a vast expanse of anonymous CPUs. Due to that you care about helping the citizens of Greenvale, they aren’t just a ticked box on a quest subscreen. And for all the talk about sluggish shooting and driving mechanics the investigation sequences are some of the most involving stages I ever played on Xbox 360, and the QTE’s are tense, well-placed, and don’t overwhelm the experience. Deadly Premonition has the sui generis appeal of a labor of love. SWERY and his team wanted to give us something wonderful with the opportunity they had. I love Deadly Premonition because it worked. Because they pulled if off. Because Deadly Premonition is strange, messy, dark, and beautiful, and that sounds like art to me.

Deadly premonition is a wonderful dynamic game featuring a world much like that of twin peaks infact it’s a homage to it I am a huge lover of both pI mean who dosent love a game where coffee hold all the answers many a morning iv been sat there with my coffee leading the way talking to zack

  • Chel Reply November 24, 2015 at 2:45 pm

Here’s the thing: I didn’t think I’d love Deadly Premonition nearly as much how I ended up. Even trying to place a reason is difficult without saying “Well, all of it.” And then it hit me: it’s the love put into this game. Every single second of game time or time spent watching Let’s Plays of this game just reminds me of how much love is at the game’s core. I’m not going to say that I love it because it’s beautiful, or because it’s masterfully written, or because it’s the pinnacle of gaming. I love this game because I’m so emotionally invested in it, because it can get me to that point. Would you call a game where people can glitch and drive outside of their cars ‘immersive?’ If not, why do I find myself asking “Zach, where are we?” when utterly lost on the highway? Why do I look at the red maple outside my window with immense suspicion? If the dialogue and voice acting is so atrocious, and lines like “What a hell…” make it ingame, then why did I actually cry during the end, with York entering the Forest? If the story is so nonsensical, then why have I spent hours on wikis and fansites, getting deeper and deeper into the lore, to the point where I decided ‘yes, I need to make a roleplay blog for this, no matter how few people will understand?’ Deadly Premonition has so much soul, so much heart, and that alone makes it shine. Having that soul gives it characters we can fall in love with, characters that feel like they’re our friends, moments where we can laugh and then cry and then clench our fists until our knuckles are white from the tension. And before I go off and ramble specifically why I love Francis York Morgan and his lifelong friend, I should probably cut myself short. It’s the love and the dedication that SWERY and the team had that rubbed off on me, and above all other reasons (and I have far too many) that really puts Deadly Premonition in its spot as one of my favorite games of all time.

      Great post!

  • Mauricio Reply November 24, 2015 at 8:02 pm

I love Deadly Premonition because of simple reasons, replaying this game is like re visiting old friends. From driving around in the Greenvale forest, to spend some time talking to the strange people in town, the experience of playing this game is one of true honest nostalgia from a town that does not exist, but is always there ready to open his arms to you every time you need to escape from the problems that life puts in front of you.
I come from a small town here in Chile, South America and i was raised knowing everyone and surrounded by nature, but now that im living my own life in a new place im always attracted to this experiences that remind me of home and this game is one that is always there for me every time i want to go back.
I could spend an entire day talking about the aspects of this game that i love so much, like the music, the writing, the sandbox, but i reading the other comments i realize that we all share that love for this game that every year takes even more people by surprise, and im happy about it.
this are my personal experiences with this game and i treasure them a lot, i hope Greenvale and his inhabitants will be there waiting for me, till i grow old.
Please Forgive my english and thanks for the opportunity!

I went to Dunkin Donuts this morning. There was an “FK” in my coffee. I complained to the manager, and got a gift card for 25 dollars for the inconvenience. How is any of this relevant? It isn’t. Now if you’ll excuse me…..my pot is getting cold.

The size of the dinner table in the hotel… Must play again now!

  • Beth Stevinson Reply November 25, 2015 at 10:16 am

This game was the most quirky and creepy games I have ever had the pleasure of playing. So many things to do, little side quests and storylines. It’s big ol’ storybook within a game, and I love a good story. The quirky trivia, the silly backstories, the fact that the main character is a foodie and a movie fanatic… Just wonderful. I couldn’t ask for a better experience with a game.

  • Steve Reply November 25, 2015 at 2:52 pm

I love Deadly Premonition because the story, characters, and setting are mysterious and intriguing while also maintaining a campy and lighthearted tone.

  • Salla Reply November 27, 2015 at 12:03 pm

i loved this game because it managed to surprise me so well. the story definitely wasnt predictable, it has a lot of quirks that make it so unique as a game, it didnt drown into the masses of competing titles and such.

The characters personality and quirks also make this game great. Overall the game was even better than i expected and i enjoyed it very much!

  • Troy Reply November 29, 2015 at 1:55 pm

The characters of the game definitely made it for me!

  • Amanda H Reply November 29, 2015 at 4:59 pm

The best thing about Deadly Premonition is…….everything! But what gets me every time is the music. Gives me happiness and joy. And of course, York’s smile. 😀 It is the best!

Deadly Premonition is a special game where I can say it is simultaneously both the best and worst game I’ve ever played. Why I love it mostly is because of the interesting characters and a story where I really wanted to find out what happens.

  • Scott Sakalosky Reply December 9, 2015 at 3:11 pm

I love Deadly Premonition because it is a game that has it all for my tastes! The story keeps you guessing at all times.

Greenvale is a very interesting place I enjoy visiting.

I also grew very attached to the characters, especially York and Zach. I truly felt close to them.

This is a very underrated game to say the least!

  • Danica Reply December 10, 2015 at 5:00 pm

Because the atmosphere took me right into an amazing world, where /I/ got to be the detective, /I/ got to be the cool spooky enigmatic lead, /I/ got to solve a murder. I love the way the lore bleeds into Twin Peaks, I even wrote an essay about all the ways the towns would cross over.

  • Ren Reply December 10, 2015 at 6:11 pm

    Everything related to coffee

  • Mike Reply December 13, 2015 at 3:17 pm

I love Deadly Premonition so much! I don’t work so I never get to play AAA titles or most new games but that doesn’t mean that there arn’t plenty of awesome games to play! I think this was the first time I ever liked a game so much that I bought it for friends and pestered them to play it! (they still haven’t)
DP has been a fairly unique experience for me in that it’s usually gameplay and atmosphere that draw me to a game but for this game there is no question that it was the endearing characters, the fantastic story that doesn’t pull any punches and the comedy.
I’ve never worried about my sanity more than when a certain character died and I started crying my eyes out then another character dances about comically and I started laughing and crying at the same time as being suddenly FURIOUS! It was an experience in emotions I’d never had before or since.
Most games nowadays don’t focus too much on the ending. You get there, kill a guy, a cutscene plays, things wrap up and the end. DP has the most satisfying ending I’ve ever seen. I’ve never been so loath to leave a game and it’s characters. After it’s all over, I drive to the edge of the map, it asks me if I’m sure I want to leave and… I don’t want to. I want to live there.
For these reasons and more, DP is one of my top 10 games overall and easily ranks #1 story-wise. Heavy rain, walking dead and other games that are played PURELY for the story don’t even come close to the experience that DP gave me. I just wish more people would play it so they would see what I’m talking about.
