During his stay in Greenvale York meets some residents of the undead variety. York only fights these creatures when he ends up in the the dark Greenvale Otherworld but so far he seems to be the only one encountering them.

Shadow

shadow_newA dead body “possessed” by an evil spirit that Agent York encounters in the Greenvale Other World. They crawl from purple oil slicks on the ground and on the walls. They seem slow but can move quickly to York after they spot him. Since Shadows are blind it is possible to sneak by them unharmed if York holds his breath. This will fail however if York’s been spotted and in the middle of getting attacked. When Shadows are close enough they will grab York and attempt to crawl inside his mouth which kills him instantly.

Strategy – They are weak against fire and if they are already ablaze from walking through a ring of fire you just need to shoot them once and they will die instantly. If you shoot an exploding barrel near a large cluster and they will all catch fire and quickly die.

When using a fire arms aim for the Shadow’s head. Multiple blows to there will hinder their progress towards York and make grabbing him impossible.

Melee weapons are really effective as well but it’s easier for groups to overwhelm you since you can’t keep at a distance while attacking.

Armed Shadow

Shadows are blind so it is possible to sneak by them unharmed if York holds his breath. This won’t always work however and fails if York’s already been spotted or they are already on top of him. When Shadows get close enough they will grab York and attempt to crawl inside his mouth which kills him instantly.

Unlike the unarmed Shadows Armed shadows will just attack York with their weapon until he dies. It’s possible to make them drop their weapon and when that happens they act like a normal Shadow and grab will York and attempt to crawl inside his mouth to kill him instantly.

Strategy – They are weak against fire and if they are already ablaze from walking through a ring of fire you just need to shoot them once and they will die instantly. If you shoot an exploding barrel near a large cluster and they will all catch fire and quickly die.

You can tell when a Armed Shadow intends to shoot their shotgun by the glowing ball of light right before they fire. Shoot or hit them repeatably so they won’t get a chance to get a shot off.

When using a fire arms aim for the Shadow’s head. Multiple blows to there will hinder their progress towards York and make grabbing him impossible.

Melee weapons are really effective as well but it’s easier for groups to overwhelm you since you can’t keep at a distance.

Crawling Shadow

crawling_shadow_new

An dead body “possessed” by an evil spirit that Agent York encounters in the Greenvale Other World. They crawl from air vents and will block him from continuing forward until they are defeated. They are much stronger than normal Shadows and are only vulnerable to attack while the creature is briefly visible. Depending on your difficulty level these shadows can take quite a bit of time to defeat.

Strategy – Crawling Shadows only appear in Other World Hallways and with their appearance red vines grow and block your escape both directions.

Run past the creature so she will gear up her glowing grab attack and become visible. Do a quick 180 turn and shoot/hit her. She will fall to the floor and become invisible once again and quickly dodge her energy ball attack. Rinse and repeat.

I find that the BEST weapon is The Legendary Guitar Grecotch that you recieve after completing 3 part time jobs for Lilly (Side Quests No. 18-20). Lilly gives you a key to a closet in their garage as a reward and you will find this weapon in the that locked closet (Side Quest No. 21). When you use the guitar it will only take 1-2 hits to kill a crawling shadow!

Mad Wild Dog

dog

A large wild dog that roams Greenvale between 0:00 and 07:00. They drop from the sky and viciously attack intruders that enter their territory. During the day these dogs are much smaller and harmless you see them standing near the bone locations.

Strategy – These dogs are tough to take down with normal weapons but it is possible if you have a lot of time and ammo. Best advice is to just not engage in combat with one and run away. If York is in his car be sure to swerve to avoid them when drop down into the road as hitting them will make the car take damage.

If you really want to take one of these out I suggest waiting until you have the RPG as one shot will kill them!

Mad Wild Bird

birdBirds that roam Greenvale between 0:00 and 07:00. They drop from the sky in small groups to attack York.

Strategy – They are easy to avoid just run away, if you need to you can just shoot them.
